Rams cannot let this Seahawks team stumble into the playoffs

Fans of the Los Angeles Rams watched in disgust as the Seattle Seahawks barely defeated the reeling Bears on Thursday Night Football. Seattle’s 6-3 win over Chicago was as painfully boring and ugly as the score indicates, making everyone wonder how this Seahawks team is still in the NFC playoff picture to begin with.

Seahawks vs. Rams: Live updates, score, how to watch Week 9 matchup | The Seattle Times

The Rams must do everything possible to defeat the Seahawks in Week 18. For the sake of the NFL playoffs, LA has to do the Lord’s work. Borrow the Chiefs’ devil magic if they have to because last night’s game was the sorriest display of football I’ve seen in a long time.

Seattle’s defense played like peak Legion of Boom which is not hard against a pathetic Bears offense that would probably give up 10 sacks to Chicago Christian High School. Chicago has one of the most conservative and unimaginative offenses in football and called a screen pass on seemingly every drive.

On the flippity flip, the Seahawks were a dumpster fire on offense. A unit featuring DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba mustered only two field goals against a Bears team that had given up 34 points per game in the three games since Matt Eberflus was fired. The entire game I had the never gonna score scene from “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America” replaying in my head. It was my only source of entertainment.

I know LA lost to Chicago, but at least they reached the end zone once in their matchup.

Seattle hasn’t exactly lit up the scoreboard against four of the worst teams in the league this season. It makes me wonder how they’ll fare when facing the NFC’s best — and whoever comes out of the NFC South.

Even if the Seahawks somehow win the division and play host in the Wild Card Round, they’re TERRIBLE at home. In a stadium once considered the toughest place to play, Seattle is 3-6 at Lumen Field, losing to contenders like the Bills, Packers, Vikings and Rams. By some miracle from the football gods, the Hawks are the first team in NFL history to have a winning record despite losing at least six home games.

WTF?!?!?!

If they couldn’t take care of business against strong competition in front of the 12s in the regular season, how can they possibly be expected to start doing it once the games start to matter?

Every year, there’s always one or two teams that don’t belong in the playoff field and the Seahawks would be that in January. Not that I’m expecting a deep run from the Rams this year, but they would put up a considerably better fight against anyone they face compared to Seattle. LA must solidify those beliefs by knocking out their rival once and for all next week.
