Raiders Considering Signing One of the Biggest Players in the NFL

The Las Vegas Raiders are starting to get a better feel for their roster amid mandatory minicamps, which has led to some moves. One player they're looking at is Caleb Jones.

According to KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson, the Raiders held a workout for the offensive lineman during minicamp. No signing has been made yet, but he's definitely been on the team's radar.

Jones has been in the NFL since 2022, when he was an undrafted free agent of the Green Bay Packers. He lasted two seasons with the team, but only played in one game. He spent last year on the practice squad for the New England Patriots.

The thing that stands out most about Jones is his size. He's a mountain of a man at 6-foot-9, 370 pounds. This makes him one of the tallest and biggest players in the NFL. The only player taller is Detroit Lions offensive lineman Dan Skipper, who is 6-foot-10, but Jones has 40 pounds on him.

The Raiders' offensive line isn't totally set right now, so they could want to bring in Jones for more competition. That said, head coach Pete Carroll spoke highly about what offensive coordinator Chip Kelly and offensive line coach Brennan Carroll have been doing with the group.

“They’ve done a really solid job,” Carroll told reporters Thursday. “They’ve really worked on their technique. … BC’s done a really nice job of getting all these guys to look uniform. They step really well. The hand placement is really good. The communication seems to be sharp. Chip’s got a really in-depth, busy plan that we ask these guys to embrace.
