It has been a long season so far for the Las Vegas Raiders, as they currently look to be a lock to pick very early in the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite Tom Telesco trying to revamp the roster this offseason, and the team riding high after the job Antonio Pierce did to close the 2023 season, Las Vegas is once again one of the worst teams in the NFL.
For the second season in a row, Las Vegas relieved their offensive coordinator of his duties during the regular season. Last year, it was Mick Lombardi who was shown the door, and this season, Luke Getsy did not make it to the bye week.
The offense has been atrocious at times, as there has been a revolving door at the quarterback position. The run game has yet to get going as of yet, and their best wide receiver, Davante Adams, was traded away to the New York Jets a few weeks back.
As the Raiders look to turn the page at the position next offseason, there could be some big names available. Here, we look at three current head coaches on the hot seat who the Raiders could land as their offensive coordinator in 2025.
Raiders: 3 hot seat HCs who could be the OC in Las Vegas next season
3. Kevin Stefanski
The Raiders are looking for a proven commodity at the position next season, or at least that should be the goal for this team in Tom Telesco's second offseason at the helm. With many teams floundering much like the Raiders are in 2024, there are certain to be numerous head coaches shown the door during Black Monday after the regular season finishes out.
Kevin Stefanski has been the head coach of the Cleveland Browns since the 2020 season, and he has done some nice things in that role. The problem is, the Browns' gamble on Deshaun Watson as their franchise quarterback has not paid off, and that usually means a change is coming across the organization very soon.
Stefanski spent a lot of time in Minnesota in numerous roles, including working with the tight ends and quarterbacks. Las Vegas has an elite young tight end in Brock Bowers, while the quarterback position is still up in the air going into next offseason.
Stefanski was twice named AP NFL Coach of the Year during his time with the Browns, a time that could be coming to an end very soon. The team may look to move in a new direction with a new quarterback and head coach next season, and he will be in demand to take over offensive coordinator duties somewhere.
2. Doug Pederson
The Jacksonville Jaguars were supposed to have their franchise quarterback for a very long time in Trevor Lawrence, but his play on the field has diminished in recent years. This season, the Jaguars have struggled to play consistent football throughout, and many feel that Doug Pederson could be on his way out.
Pederson took over as head coach of the Jaguars back in 2022, this after winning a Super Bowl as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles in his previous stint. That year, he had to replace Carson Wentz due to injury down the stretch, and was able to reach the pinnacle of the NFL with Nick Foles at the helm.
In 2024, the Jaguars have gotten out to a 2-8 start, this after finishing over .500 the previous two seasons. Pederson has held many roles as a coach during his NFL career, and was a former player, so he has a ton of experience not only calling plays as a coach, but running an offense as an NFL quarterback.
Pederson is another guy who will be in high demand as an offensive coordinator if he does get the axe from the Jaguars, and may be more interested in finding another head coaching job. However, there is a lot of young talent to work with on this Raiders offense, and he does have experience in the AFC West, serving as Kansas City's offensive coordinator from 2013 through the 2015 NFL season.
1. Brian Daboll
When the New York Giants hired Brian Daboll to be their next head coach, he was one of the more sought-after young coordinators in the game. Daboll helped turn Josh Allen into a star during his time in Buffalo with the Bills, and was tasked with trying to turn around the career of Daniel Jones once he landed in New York.
Unfortunately for Daboll, Jones is just not a good NFL quarterback, and would be better suited as a backup somewhere. After stumbling through a 17-26-1 record as the head coach of the Giants, he is a guy who is certainly on the hot seat, and could resurrect his career, and his reputation in the desert.
The Giants are going to finish with one of the worst records in football in 2024, so the Giants could give him another shot to succeed with a new quarterback next season. However, this is a fan base that is sick of losing, and when you struggle under the bright lights of New York City, there are going to be some serious repercussions.
Daboll is an outstanding offensive mind, and one who could come in and really lead a young quarterback in Las Vegas. The Raiders should do everything they can to get one of the premier quarterbacks in this year's draft class, and there may not be a better option at offensive coordinator to help get that player's career started off on the right foot.
