An AFC foe wants to go through exactly what the Houston Texans just went through on offense

The Houston Texans' offense has not been quite what they hoped for in 2024, especially when you consider the product they put out on the field in 2023. They were better than this year, really, with less than what they had this year.

One reason they have somewhat fallen off, or at least plateaued, is the offensive coordinator situation. Bobby Slowik, the guy calling the shots on offense for the Texans, hasn't had his best sophomore year. After last season, he had such a good year that teams were interviewing him to be their head coach.

That was his rookie year as a coordinator, and he was so good that teams were interested in him after one year. Obviously, he wasn't hired anywhere as a head coach, and he stayed with the Texans as OC. But, his second year showed that some of these teams that didn't take him as a head coach may have made the right decision.

When you look at the discourse amongst the Texans fan base, there is a very large portion of the fans that feel like Slowik should be fired, as C.J. Stroud took a major step back from his rookie year. And, while we don't know if that will or won't happen, as a playoff game against the Los Angeles Chargers could change everything, there is reason to believe that they could be without him next year.

There's one AFC foe who wants to go through the same thing the Texans just did.

New York Jets interested in Bobby Slowik as HC

The New York Jets fired their head coach, Robert Saleh, during the year and went the rest of the season with an interim head coach. Now, they are tasked with finding their head coach of the future, as they transition from what they thought was a competing team, to now a team that's rebuilding.

And, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Jets are expected to interview Slowik for their head coaching vacancy.

Now, even if he did get the job, it likely wouldn't happen until after the Texans are out of the playoffs, or after they win it all, whatever you'd prefer to say. But, I can say confidently that Slowik will likely not get that job.
