Producers Scramble To Fix Their Mistakes With Jenn Tran's The Bachelorette Season By Allowing Her To Confront Sam M. (Proves Show Does Care About The Lead)

Throughout The Bachelorette season 21, Jenn has had her resilience tested as the men of her season have been difficult for Bachelor Nation to support. With villains sprinkled throughout the cast, many of the connections Jenn has made have seemed uncomfortable. From her initial connection with Sam, who was one of the villainous members of The Bachelorette season 21 cast, to her relationships with Devin Strader and Marcus Shoberg, Jenn’s remaining suitors moving into the finale, it’s been tough for her to connect with the guys at their core. The Bachelorette producers have a lot to explain about Jenn’s cast.

Jenn Claps Back At Sam M. For His Behavior On The Show

She Was Able To Speak Up

During The Bachelorette: Men Tell All, Jenn took the opportunity to talk about the relationships she developed throughout the season, including her long connection with Sam. While many felt that Sam was villainous in nature throughout the season, Jenn didn’t have the opportunity to see his behavior firsthand for quite some time. Sam’s difficulties with the cast of The Bachelorette season 21 were notable from the beginning of the season, and his time with the rest of the guys made it clear that he wasn’t participating in The Bachelorette for Jenn’s heart, but instead for the entirely wrong reasons.

When Sam was finally exposed as the quasi-clout-chaser that he seemed to be, Jenn was quick to make it clear that she wasn’t interested in wasting her time on the Myrtle Beach native. Sam’s comments, which made it clear that he wasn’t interested in Jenn and had come to The Bachelorette hoping that he’d be able to meet another woman from the franchise, were harsh and difficult to watch. Jenn, who rejected Sam when he tried to tell her that he loved her, was finally able to see Sam clearly once she watched the show back and understood his position.

Jenn Was Given The Opportunity To Stand Up For Herself

She Didn’t Have To Placate Sam

During The Bachelorette: Men Tell All, Jenn got the chance to speak to Sam directly and stand up for herself as the show’s lead. Explaining earlier in the episode that she was proud to be a representative of her culture, Jenn knew going into being The Bachelorette that there would be a lot of pressure for her. As the first Asian-American Bachelorettewhether Jenn wanted to be one or not, she was a representative of her community coming into the spotlight and holding a lot of responsibility. When she got the chance to speak to Sam, she didn’t hold back.

Jenn shared that Sam’s comments had been hurtful, explaining that she didn’t feel he had the emotional maturity to fully understand the rifts he’d caused in the house, but she did her best to explain it to him in a way he’d understand. Jenn shared she wasn’t happy with the way Sam had treated the other guys on the series, nor had she liked seeing the way he’d treated her. Jenn was open about Sam hurting her but also shared that she didn’t feel like his level of disrespect had been warranted in any of his interactions on The Bachelorette.

Although Jenn was able to speak her peace on Sam’s nature, it was clear that The Bachelorette producers wanted her to be able to share her genuine thoughts on the season’s big villain. While Jenn was able to speak about Sam during the season to an extent, having watched his actions on screen is far different than seeing them close up. Now, with the knowledge of what was going on when she wasn’t present, Jenn’s opinion has shifted on what happened during her and Sam’s relationship on the show, and she was able to speak with all the information available.

Even though Jenn wished the best for Sam, it was clear that she was angry about how he’d handled their relationship as well as his connections with the guys in the cast. Jenn was allowed to see Sam’s true colors during the season and then made it clear that she wasn’t happy with the way he treated her or the rest of the cast. By allowing Jenn to express her genuine emotions about Sam’s behavior, The Bachelorette gave her some of her power back and rectified some of the mistakes they’ve made with Jenn throughout the season.
