It's tough to get a feel for what the New England Patriots might do during the NFL draft. The team made impressive moves to their wide receiver room during the offseason, adding Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins.
However, as the Patriots get closer to the draft, and with the remainder of the offseason, there could be a scenario where they trade for a wide receiver if they don't love anybody in the draft.
If that happens, somebody like Romeo Doubs of the Green Bay Packers could be a perfect addition. While the Packers getting rid of him might not make much sense given where their wide receiver room sits, Doubs could be someone they look to move after a 601-yard and four-touchdown season.
In a recent trade idea from Pro Football Network, the Patriots would land him, with them citing that the Packers could move on from him due to their crowded wide receiver room.
“The Packers had a very crowded wide receiver room in 2024. Four wide receivers saw at least 500 snaps — the most of any team. Although Christian Watson’s January torn ACL clears the picture up slightly, the Packers appear poised to add another early-round receiver in this year’s draft.
“If that happens, Romeo Doubs’ days with the Packers could very well be numbered. Doubs is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025. His trade value is tricky to discern — while he averaged career-highs in receiving yards per game (46.2), yards per reception (13.1), and catch rate (63.9%), he also suffered multiple concussions last season and served a one-game suspension following dissatisfaction about his role in the offense,” PFN wrote.
While the Packers' wide receiver room is crowded, there isn't a true top option. Doubs isn't that guy, but given how young, he is, he could develop into that.
If the Packers want to move on from him, New England could be a good landing spot, especially if Drake Maye and him develop a relationship given their ages.
