Philadelphia Eagles fans will get a kick out of what former backup quarterback Kenny Pickett will have to say about his time in Midnight Green.
While speaking to reporters during the Cleveland Browns' OTAs, Pickett expressed appreciation for the Eagles organization while highlighting the professionalism he observed during his stint with the Eagles.
"I'm extremely grateful for my time in Philly," Pickett said via NFL.com's Kevin Patra. "I think I was just shown how it's supposed to be done, really, from the top down. So when you get a chance to see what it's supposed to look like and how it should look on a day-to-day basis, not just on Sundays. You know, I think it'll pay dividends for me in the future."
Pickett’s comments make it pretty clear that his time in Philly gave him a real glimpse into how a top-notch organization runs, and if you read between the lines, it sounds like he’s drawing some comparisons to the team that drafted him (Pittsburgh Steelers).
The Eagles traded Pickett to the Browns back in March in exchange for fellow backup quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson and a 2025 fifth-round pick from Cleveland.
Pickett was a reliable backup to Hurts, despite contributing in a limited role last season, where he appeared in five games. He completed 25 of 42 pass attempts for 291 yards, throwing two touchdowns against one interception during his time filling in as the team’s No. 2 quarterback. Though his opportunities were limited, Pickett showed flashes of composure and efficiency when called upon.
The hope now is that the lessons he picked up in Philadelphia will carry over to his time in Cleveland as he works alongside Deshaun Watson.
