The New England Patriots have improved their wide receiver room this offseason, mainly by adding Stefon Diggs.

Patriots Predicted to Cut Ties With $20 Million Drake Maye Weapon

Diggs, one of the better wide receivers in the NFL when he's healthy, should be an excellent target for Drake Maye. As the Patriots continue to revamp their wide receiver room in the hope of adding talent around their young star, there could be multiple moves made over the next few days before the draft.

During the draft, the Patriots are expected to select a wide receiver, whether it comes in the first round or later.

However, outside of the additions they could make, there's a scenario where the Patriots could cut ties with a few guys. One of them could be Kendrick Bourne, who hasn't performed at the level the Patriots were hoping for.

In a recent prediction from Pro Football Network, they had the Patriots cutting ties with him via a trade.

“A new coaching staff typically won’t have much loyalty to players the previous regime brought in. Applying that logic, the Patriots have one of the least predictable wide receiver rooms in the NFL. New England will surely draft more receivers this year, leaving recent picks like Ja’Lynn Polk, Javon Baker, Demario Douglas, and Kayshon Boutte in an uncertain spot.

“One veteran who probably doesn’t fit with the rebuilding Patriots is Kendrick Bourne. Since his 55-catch, 800-yard season in 2021, Bourne has yet to hit 500 yards in a season, with a torn ACL from October 2023 hampering him each of the last two seasons. Bourne turns 30 in August, and the Patriots signed Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins to serve as the reliable veterans in the receiver room,” they wrote.

If New England could get any assets in return for the below-average wide receiver, it wouldn't be a bad idea. 29 years old, and coming off a 305-yard season, it's tough to see any team giving up real value for him.

However, if the Patriots could land a late-round pick, something would be better than nothing.
