Patrick Mahomes' former teammate reveals why Bills will finally beat the Chiefs

Joey Bosa could be a huge difference maker for the Bills.

It seems like there are two goals that the Buffalo Bills are looking to accomplish ever since Josh Allen took a major MVP step forward in 2020. The first one is obvious, winning a Super Bowl for the city of Buffalo. The second goal is finding a way to beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs in order to reach the Super Bowl.

Year in and year out, the Bills have suffered a heartbreaking loss and have been forced to watch the Chiefs advance in the playoffs and make it to the Super Bowl. Since the 2021 playoffs, Buffalo has been knocked out by Kansas City four out of five seasons.

When Buffalo signed Von Miller in 2022, Bills fans were hoping that he was the missing piece that the Bills found in order to finally get past the Chiefs. Sadly, it didn’t work at all. Buffalo released Miller this offseason and were going to need to bring in another pass rusher to bring to the edge rusher room.

The Bills did just that early on in free agency when they made a splash signing with Joey Bosa on a one-year deal worth $12.6 million. Coming from the Los Angeles Chargers, Bosa joins a ready-to-win now Bills team that is coming off an AFC championship appearance (that once again ended in heartbreaking loss against the Chiefs).

Former teammate of Patrick Mahomes reveals why Bills will finally get past the Chiefs

New Orleans Saints’ safety Justin Reid, who spent the last three seasons in Kansas City, recently spoke on Good Morning Football’s podcast and talked about the addition of Bosa to the Bills.

Reid talked about the Super Bowl showed that if you have a consistent pass rush that can get to Mahomes, “it can create some problems”.

“He brings pressure, he brings attitude, he brings tenacity, he brings all those things that can cause problems” said Reid. We’ve seen it time and time again from Bosa, who brings 72 career sacks to Buffalo and consistently causes havoc to an offense.

One of the biggest differences between Von Miller’s presence and Joey Bosa’s presence is that Miller isn’t a pure bull-rusher who you have to double team anymore. Miller is creative in his pass rush, but Bosa will take on a blocker head-on to collapse the pocket. That is something that the Bills haven’t had in a long time.

Bosa is very familiar with playing against the Chiefs, having done it twice a year for the last nine years. He knows what it’s like to consistently play against Kansas City so now you pair him with a Bills team that is so close to getting past the Chiefs in the playoffs. It would be epic to see the Bills and Chiefs face off in the playoffs and see Bosa make the game-winning play that helps eliminates the Chiefs.
