The Minnesota Vikings have either the best or the second-best wide receiver in the game.
Justin Jefferson is a driving force of nature, and he’s not going to be denied once he takes off and sets his sights on the football.
However, they also have a very talented player by his side in Jordan Addison, even though he has yet to establish himself in the league or take a leap forward.
Notably, the league will welcome a very similar player next season.
At least, that’s how Shanna McCarriston of CBS Sports feels.
In her latest column, the renowned analyst compared Texas star WR Matthew Golden to Addison, claiming that they had similar builds, downfield style of play, and an ability to make defensive players miss:
“In terms of his size, ability to play down the field and to make guys miss, Wilson said Matthew Golden reminds him of Jordan Addison. Carthon, meanwhile, sees Golden as a first-round pick and would like to see him on an offense that already has a No. 1 receiver to play opposite of him,” McCarriston wrote.
The Vikings will be on the clock with the No. 24 pick.
They only have four draft picks at the moment, so they could technically get Golden, who’s projected to go in the top 20.
Addison is most likely going to be suspended for at least three games because of his incidents off the field last season, and the Vikings could use some more depth.
Jalen Nailor is a serviceable player, but he might not be suited to be WR2 if (when) Addison is forced to miss time.
So, as much as some believe that they should use their first-round pick on an interior offensive lineman or a cornerback, this team could look to give J.J. McCarthy yet another weapon to choose from and make his transition to the pros a little easier.
