Packers Rumors: Josh Jacobs Expected to Take Huge Role in Week 2 if Jordan Love Doesn’t Start

Week 2 was supposed to be a more reasonable match for the Green Bay Packers after playing the Philadelphia Eagles in an unfamiliar environment. While the Indianapolis Colts are a team with a high upside, they were supposed to be the underdogs in their upcoming duel against the Packers.

However, fans were dealt a bad hand when Jordan Love had to go down with a knee injury in Brazil. It was initially feared that their QB would be sidelined for longer than initially expected, but there are whispers in and around the team that Love might be able to return against the Minnesota Vikings.

Until Love returns, the onus is on the rest of the Green Bay roster to not allow the team to fall to a 0-2 hole against the Colts. One analyst in particular highlights the importance of the run game in Love’s absence.

Josh Jacobs started his Green Bay Packers tenure with a solid performance, but Forbes’ Rob Reischel wants him to step up his performance if the team wants to get a win against the Colts:

If Love is out, the Packers would almost certainly lean heavily on running back Josh Jacobs, who had 84 yards on 16 carries in Week 1. Jacobs had just four yards on six carries in the first half, then had 80 yards on 10 carries in the second half (8.0).

No. 2 running back Emanuel Wilson (4-46) would likely see an increased workload, as well.

Jacobs has shown during his stint with the Las Vegas Raiders that he has what it takes to become a key runner for the Packers. In the year he became an All-Pro running back, he ran for 1653 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Packers aren’t necessarily expecting him to become an unstoppable running back, but him overpowering the Colts’ defensive line would become instrumental in helping the Packers win Week 2.
