The Green Bay Packers improved to 3-2 with their 24-19 victory over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon. Once again, it was a game that saw the Packers fall behind early, only to make the necessary adjustments at halftime to take control of the game. After trailing 13-10, they outscored the Rams 14-6 in the second half to earn the win.
Green Bay scored two touchdowns in the second half, both of which were scored by tight end Tucker Kraft. The second-year player out of South Dakota State led the Packers with four receptions (wide receiver Jayden Reed also had four) and 88 yards.
Kraft’s first touchdown reception was a 66-yard catch and run that saw him stiff-arm a Rams defender to the ground on his way to the end zone. Second-year wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks, who battled drops all day, was running with him blocking 50 yards downfield:
Kraft’s second touchdown reception was a gritty seven-yard catch and run that saw him weave through several defenders on his way to the end zone:
Last season, in 17 games, Kraft had 31 receptions for 355 yards and two touchdowns. His performance today gives him 16 receptions for 218 yards and three touchdowns through five games.
Kraft is one of the most beloved players currently playing for the Packers among the fanbase. This is because he plays hard, loves to block, and he admittedly embraces the violence of the game.
His penchant to play violently was seen throughout the game, but especially when he caught the ball in the open field. It seemed as if Kraft was looking for defenders to run over, and he probably was.
After the game, fans and Packers players all were saying the same thing about the young tight end:
This post is from Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed, who had four receptions for 78 yards. His mentioning of safety Xavier McKinney is because the Green Bay safety had his fifth interception of the season during the game.
As one can see, both players and fans (and Jim Nantz) are impressed with the way Kraft plays the game. If he keeps up this level of production and stays healthy, he will have a long impressive career in the NFL.
