Protecting quarterback Jordan Love has been a big mission for the Green Bay Packers, and they showed dedication to that goal with notable moves.
In 2024, they took offensive tackle Jordan Morgan in the first round of that year’s NFL draft. More recently, Green Bay inked right tackle Zach Tom to a massive extension deal while also signing former San Francisco 49ers guard Aaron Banks to a big contract.
However, Love doesn’t seem to be all that satisfied over the work — or lack thereof– he’s had so far in the offseason with Elgton Jenkins, who has been turned into a center after playing left guard for the most part of his career in the NFL.
Jenkins was not able to participate fully in the OTAs and minicamps due to his contract situation, and now, he’s dealing with a back injury that is taking away precious time to work and develop chemistry with Love.
Love sounds off on Jenkins’ absence amid Green Bay Packers training camp
The Packers signal-caller recently shared his thoughts on the absence of Jenkins, especially with the adjustments happening on the Packers’ offensive line.
“We’ve got to get a lot of reps in a lot of work with guys, especially when it’s somebody new, but Elgton has been a guy who’s been around,” Love told reporters. “We’ve got a lot of reps within the center with different things that have happened and moving around and just getting snaps in general. So once he gets back from injury, it’ll be great to have him back out there because it’s one of those things you want to be feeling as comfortable as possible. And get as many reps in with our relationship, make sure there’s no issues with snaps, no balls on the ground, things like that. So definitely be nice to head back out there.
