The Green Bay Packers aren’t afraid of pulling off a big trade.  Three off-seasons in a row they opted to move on from a superstar.  Davante Adams (2022), Aaron Rodgers (2023), and Aaron Jones (2024) will all play somewhere else this season.

While the Packers didn’t make a trade in 2024 (released Aaron Jones and signed Josh Jacobs) there is still a possible trade on the horizon.

The Green Bay Packers Could Still Pull Off Significant Trade This Off-Season

According to Evan Massey of NFL Analysis:

Throughout the course of the offseason, there have been quite a few rumblings and rumors surrounding New Orleans Saints star cornerback Marshon Lattimore. While the Saints don’t necessarily want to trade him, his price tag may force them to make some kind of move.

John Buhler of FanSided recently proposed a trade between the Packers and Saints that would send Lattimore to Green Bay.

Green Bay Packers Receive: Marshon Lattimore

New Orleans Saints Receive: 2025 First-Round Pick, 2025 Fourth-Round Pick, 2026 Second-Round Pick, 2026 Seventh-Round Pick

When you talk about a blockbuster trade, this is what you imagine. Even though acquiring Lattimore would be an excellent pickup for the Packers, they should not be willing to pay this kind of price. Along with this kind of price tag for Lattimore would be a necessary contract extension, which would be expensive.

On the Saints’ side of things, they would absolutely pull the trigger on this deal. Getting a first and second-round pick would be absolute robbery. Especially for a player that they don’t plan to pay up to retain.

There could be something to work with when it comes to this possibility as well. Perhaps the Packers could trade a 2025 second-round pick, a 2026 third-round pick, and a 2026 fifth-round pick to get something done. Of course, that would be dependent on whether or not Gutekunst and the Packers would want to pony up the money to keep Lattimore.

Will The Packers Make A Trade To Address The Secondary?

Green Bay Packers picked four safety players in the first eight picks of the 2024 NFL draft, and the safety group stands out for its versatility and aggressive play style.

This season, versatility has been a focus of the discussion surrounding who will be Xavier McKinney’s running mate, with GM Brian Gutekunst regularly mentioning his desire for the two safety spots to be interchangeable.

There is an element of that to all three of the Packers’ draft picks at safety. Evan Williams and Javon Bullard can handle nickel and deep safety duties, while Oladapo specializes in traditional safety.

However, the Packers could certainly address the cornerback position in a trade. Lattimore would provide a bonafide stud across from Jaire Alexander.
