The Green Bay Packers offseason is entering the final stages after over 100 million dollars in free agent signings and 11 draft picks in the 2024 draft. With the 2024-25 NFL season on the way, the season schedule has been released, a process that can drastically change the outcome of the season.

There will always be pros and cons to an NFL schedule and this trend continues with the Packers in 2024-25, though the strengths of the schedule seem to jump off the page.

The NFL bye week is a crucial point of a team schedule. Ideally, the bye week would occur towards the middle or slightly later into the season, though for some teams it will happen as early as week 5. Luckily for the Green Bay Packers, they get to experience the ideal.

The Packers’ bye week will happen after nine games during week 10 with nine more games remaining in the regular season after that, splitting the season in half with a break. The well-timed break will offer the coaching staff time to fix problems after a good sample size, as well as integrate any potential acquisitions from the trade deadline.

Following the bye week, the Green Bay Packers have a rivalry game with the Chicago Bears followed by the San Fransisco 49ers then four straight primetime appearances, so there will be plenty to address in the bye week.

#2 No Long Road Stints For Packers

A long road trip can make or break a team’s season, whether they catch fire or compound mistakes can turn a season record around quickly. The Green Bay Packers do not have to worry about that for 2024-25. The Packers’ schedule consists of only one two-game road stretch that comes late in the season in weeks 14 and 15 in consecutive primetime slots in Detroit and Seattle. In between those two games will come an extra three days rest due to the first being a Thursday Night Football game.

The biggest positive to the Packers’ schedule is the international season opener in Brazil versus the Philadelphia Eagles working in their favor. Despite being a neutral site arena, the game will count as an away game despite significant support from Brazil towards the Green Bay Packers.

“Last season, NFL Brasil conducted a poll which revealed the Packers are the most popular NFL franchise in the nation, accounting for 12.3% of total football fans. Upon announcing news of the game in December, the NFL revealed there are approximately 38 million American football fans in the giant country. Put those numbers together, and you get an estimated 4.75 million Packers fans who call Brasil home. For reference, the total population of Wisconsin is 5.7 million. That’s how many people we are talking about here.”

Now thanks to the scheduling shake-up, the Green Bay Packers will play nine home games, eight away games, and one neutral site game, giving the Packers a little easier time through the long NFL season.
