Jets defensive tackle Quinnen Williams contributed 1.5 sacks as Stroud was sacked two more times than in any other game in his NFL career. The former Wenonah High School standout and Alabama All-American boosted his sack total to five for the season and 38 for his career.

Stroud completed only 11-of-30 passes, a .366 completion percentage that was the worst of his career.

Sherwood also contributed seven tackles and Williams had four tackles and four quarterback hits as the Jets broke a five-game losing streak.

New York quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw three touchdown passes, with two coming on one-handed catches by wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

With the Texans trailing 14-10, Houston’s Ka’imi Fairbairn made a 43-yard field goal with 8:19 to play. But a New York penalty allowed the Texans to get a first down at the Jets 12-yard line in exchange for taking the points off the scoreboard. The Jets defense held firm, and Fairbairn clanged a 27-yard field goal off the left upright.

New York then scored a touchdown on its next possession to take a 21-10 lead with 2:56 to play.
