NFL Makes Marlon Humphrey Decision After Incident in Ravens-Bills

The bad news just keep rolling in after one of the most disappointing losses in Ravens franchise history.

And another bad headline for All-Pro cornerback, Marlon Humphrey.

On Saturday, the NFL handed down a fine of $45,020 to Humphrey for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen just before halftime. Remarkably, no penalty was called during the game.

This marks Humphrey's second fine for a helmet-to-helmet hit this season; he was previously fined $22,511 in Week 10. The fact that this is his second infraction likely contributed to the steep penalty amount.

While Humphrey didn’t draw a flag on the play, discipline issues were evident for Baltimore throughout their recent game. The Ravens committed five penalties for 43 yards, in stark contrast to the Bills, who managed just one penalty for 10 yards. Baltimore has struggled with penalties this season, and it’s a matter that the team will need to address moving forward.

Despite earning first-team All-Pro honors as a slot corner after battling through several injury-riddled seasons, Humphrey still has two years left on his contract but with no guaranteed money remaining. This raises significant questions about his future with the Ravens, as he stated after the loss to the Bills last week.

"I know I have no more years guaranteed on this existing contract, so it's whatever message you have," Humphrey said. "You could be on this team. You could be on another team. Some guys will stay, some guys will leave, and I fall into that same bucket. So, the message is, 'We lost. Get over it,' and we'll kind of see where the offseason goes."

Although it is a truth that he finds challenging to confront, Humphrey is coming to terms with the possibility that the game he just played could very well be his final appearance in Baltimore.
