MomTok Star Miranda McWhorter’s Ex-Husband Chase Speaks O.u.t o.n S.o.f.t S.w.i.n.g.i.n.g Scandal

The new Hulu series The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives continues to fascinate viewers. The drama centers around the influencer group called MomTok. The Mormon wives, who are the breadwinners for their families, created fun TikTok videos while also creating their own content. But when Taylor Frankie Paul admitted that she was getting a divorce and that “soft swinging” was to blame, no one else in the group admitted to taking part. Until now, that is. Former MomTok group member Miranda McWhorter and her ex-husband, Chase McWhorter, weren’t featured on the show. But now Chase is coming clean about his involvement in the “soft swinging” scandal.

Chase and Miranda are now divorced, but when Taylor made her announcement, the couple denied being involved. But now Chase has admitted that he took part. He moved away from The Mormon Church, and now feels comfortable revealing the truth. “That was the sole reason I was embarrassed to be a part of the first place was the optics. It was a learning experience, for sure, and looking back, we could have gone about it a lot of different ways,” Chase told US Weekly.

He explained that the parties started rather innocently. “It all started during Covid. [It was] a bunch of our friends coming – couples – and then we’d all get trashed on alcohol,” Chase explained, “and then, like, these games would come up. Spin the bottle or whatever.”

Miranda and Chase were “there participating in some of the party games.” He added, “It was never predetermined that we were going to be doing, like, swinging.” That sexual experimentation happened because of a “snowball effect” due to the alcohol and their strict upbringing.

Eventually, the group started to rent cabins around Utah for their parties. “I do think these marriages were struggling, most of them. But I don’t really ever think anyone thought, ‘We’re gonna eventually, like, switch and then have sex with that person,'” Chase stated.

So, Taylor’s revelation that she and then-husband Tate Paul were doing “the actual swinging thing” with another couple shocked Chase. “We found out that she had not only had an affair, but she had been having an affair for about a month and a half, and that this was not a one-time offense. It was more [of an] emotional affair,” Chase stated. “I don’t think Taylor liked the fact that Miranda wasn’t really there right by her side [during the scandal].” Their friendship of five years fell apart.

So, who attended the parties? The only cast members who attended were Demi Engemann and Bret Engemann, her husband. They “did come to some of the parties,” Chase explained. But they weren’t involved. He added, “They were just hanging out.”

Fingers crossed that the show gets a second season. Maybe we will meet Miranda!
