The legend he’s created around himself is nothing short of amazing. He’s one of the biggest reasons why basketball is such a worldwide phenomenon, and his play impacted how future generations approached the game: with unbelievable swagger and a penchant for creating during the biggest moments.

While not many people enjoyed reminiscing about Jordan’s final years as a cager in DC, everyone still looks fondly at the times he spent as a player. His impact is still felt to this day as his memorabilia is still being sold at the millions.

Signed Michael Jordan memorabilia was sold for $3,000,000 in a recent auction

Goldin Auctions recently had a rare Michael Jordan card in its inventory. It was special for being the first signed card with the iconic Jumpman jersey patch on a Chicago Bulls uniform. The iconic Jordan brand insignia on the card instantly made it a must-have item for His Airness’ most ardent fans.

The Spun’s Andrew Gould detailed that the card was sold for $2,928,000. He also added details about the auction and the card:

The site log shows 38 bids on the first signed card featuring a “Logoman” jersey patch from a Chicago Bulls uniform. The auction ended with a winning bid of $2.4 billion at 11:30 p.m. ET.

Professional Sports Authenticators gave the one-of-a-kind card a perfect 10 grade.

“The card itself displays a highly favorable manner of appearance, with any evidence of past circulation barely perceptible to the naked eye,” Goldin wrote. “Cards possessing this awe-inspiring combination of style, exclusivity, and historical significance do not frequently exchange hands, making this auction event a truly once-in-a-lifetime offering.”

One can argue that The Last Dance played a huge role on the final selling price of the card. It reminded everyone just how epic of a player Michael Jordan was during his playing days and how one-of-a-kind he is as an athlete.

While some fans may argue that LeBron James is already past him in terms of legacy, it cannot be denied that no one had more impact than him on the game of basketball. It’s hard to imagine Jordan memorabilia losing its value at this point.
