Miami Dolphins Week 14 Power Rankings Roundup

The Miami Dolphins went into Week 13 looking to kill the narratives about the team not playing well in the cold, on the road, and against winning teams. They came out of their Thanksgiving game against the Green Bay Packers with the narratives intact and probably pretty well reinforced. It was a debacle on a national stage Thursday night and Miami simply did not look like a team interested in playing in the cold, on the road, and against a winning team.

Miami fell to 5-7 on the season with the loss. The playoffs are not off the table yet, but the Dolphins have given themselves absolutely no room for any more stumbles—and even then, they are going to need a lot of help from around the rest of the AFC. Thanksgiving was not kind to the Dolphins or their fans.

Our SB Nations Reacts poll, brought to us by FanDuel sportsbook, examines how the fans feel about the Dolphins’ direction in Week 14.

Are the Miami Dolphins headed in the right direction? - Week 14 results

A loss to the Packers would likely have been excusable in most situations, with Green Bay a very good team who looks like they could be a factor in the NFC playoffs. A loss like the one the Dolphins had, however, where they just were not even executing the basics like tackling (20 missed tackles during the game), just leaves fans questioning what is happening in South Florida.

Our SB Nation Reacts fan confidence poll shows exactly that questionable. While we have seen single-digit ratings this season, the Dolphins’ climb back to relevance had the fans trusting again. Heading into last week’s game, 79 percent of the fans felt the team was headed in the right direction. This week, heading into an AFC East rivalry game against the New York Jets, has tanked. According to our Week 14 poll, just 19 percent of the fans think the team is headed in the right direction.

here will the fan confidence rating land after this week’s game? Can a win over the Jets lead to a jump in the ratings? We will be back in Week 14 to take a look.

Dolphins opponent fan confidence: New York Jets

This is the first meeting between the Dolphins and Jets this season, a late opening to the annual home-and-home series between the division rivals. The Dolphins are hosting today’s game, with the second stint scheduled for Week 18 as the regular season finale for both teams.

Things have not gone well for the Jets this season, a year that was expected to have them challenging for the AFC East title and potentially to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who missed the entire season last year with an Achille tear, was back and ready to be the MVP for whom the Jets traded in 2023. Instead, the team has stumbled their way to a 3-9 record and there are many fans calling for the team to bench Rodgers and move on.

It has not been pretty for the Jets, and their fan confidence rating shows it. In Week 14, they are up to seven percent of the fans thinking they are headed in the right direction, an increase from the six percent results in Weeks 13 and 12 and the five percent rating in Week 11. It has not been a pleasant season for Jets fans.

Of course, this weekend is a rivalry game and both fan bases are seeing an opportunity to beat up a team with a losing record.
