Mannelly: Two Point Conversion Confusion ‘egregious’ mistake by Eberflus, Bears

The latest Bears Banter Podcast has dropped!

The Chicago Bears dropped a tough one to the Indianapolis Colts, and Patrick Mannelly dropped by the Bears Banter podcast to talk about it.

Mannelly had great points on the struggles of the Bears’ offense and the offensive line. We spent time discussing special teams and, as always, Mannelly gives fantastic insight into the third phase. But he was very disappointed with Matt Eberflus, especially needing to burn a timeout on the two-point conversion attempt. Mannelly was not pleased.

NFL Week 3 Awards: Bears should fire Matt Eberflus before he damages Caleb Williams

“That was egregious. That was flat ridiculous,” Mannelly stated. “I’ve been on those sidelines before where the special teams coach will make it clear. I mean, they sent Santos out there. So not only is the blame on Eberflus, he’s the head coach but the special teams coach has to know that as well. They have the clicker to communicate, right? ‘Hey, are we going for two?’ That should have been communicated while they were driving down the field. That should have been known before... That was inexcusable. A high school coach would know to do that.”

Mannelly was filled with outstanding opinions, so make sure you check out what he has to say.
