The Detroit Lions avenged their toughest loss of the 2023-2024 season against the San Francisco 49ers on the road this past Monday, setting up an NFC North showdown for the ages on Sunday Night Football this weekend in Motown against the Minnesota Vikings for the division crown.
On Wednesday one of the Lions' most impressive defenders, cornerback Terrion Arnold, sent a blunt six-word warning to the Vikings heading into Sunday night's game that is sure to become bulletin board material for Jordan Addison, Justin Jefferson and the rest of Minnesota's receivers.
"We're a bad matchup for Minnesota," Arnold said.
"They got receivers, but we got cover guys."
The Lions won the first matchup between the two 14-2 division contenders on October 20 in Minnesota after Detroit outpassed the Vikings by a final tally of 247 to 244 yards.
Detroit also had a slight edge in the run game with 144 yards to 139.
Quarterback Jared Goff and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson's Lions are second in the NFL in passing at 266.1 yards per game. The Vikings rank fifth with 243.8 yards passing per game.
Detroit's defense has battled injuries recently to pull out hard fought games against the 49ers and Bears, shortly after dropping a 48-42 shootout to Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills on Dec. 15.
Dan Campbell's team need another gritty effort from the entire defense, including Arnold, to bring home the franchise's second straight division championship on Sunday.
