The Detroit Lions have done a pretty good job of retaining talent from their 2024 roster so far this offseason.
They have only had three members of this past season's roster sign elsewhere so far. Meanwhile they have managed to retain eight of their free agents.
That includes players like Levi Onwuzurike and Derrick Barnes, who were expected to receive interest from other teams around the league.
Now another free agent who spent the 2024 season with the Lions has made it clear he wants to stay with the team.
Wide receiver Tim Patrick posted a picture to his Instagram story (via The Detroit Times) that featured a jacket with a message on the back that reads, "I only want to work with the Lions."
Patrick didn't play a single regular season snap for the two years before he joined the Lions.
In 2022 he suffered a torn ACL before the season began. In 2023 it was a torn Achilles that cost him his whole season.
Then he headed to Detroit and got his career back on track.
As the Lions WR3, Patrick appeared in 16 games, making 33 catches for 394 yards and three touchdowns. He also had 20 of his catches turn into first downs.
These aren't huge numbers, but you couldn't ask for much more from a player who is competing with Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta, and Jahmyr Gibbs for targets after two years on injured reserve.
With him now having a full season under his belt after recovering from those injuries, he could potentially have more to offer in 2025.
He was a good fit for the Lions on a reasonable deal during his lone season with the team and would be a good fit again as their WR3 next season if they were to bring him back.
