The day DeMarvion Overshown has been dreaming of since he left the Texas Longhorns to head to the NFL is finally here: The Dallas Cowboys linebacker will wear No. 0 for the 2025 season, becoming the first franchise player to do so.
Last year, Overshown revealed the reason he wasn't allowed to change to No. 0, which the NFL first allowed players to use in 2023, was because Cowboys mascot "Rowdy" wore double zeroes already.
However, after a productive 2024 season in which he established himself as a rising starter, Overshown is being rewarded. For him, the change is about much more than just the number.
"When I have that zero on the front and back of my jersey I feel like Super Man," Overshown told NFL Live on ESPN. "I truly believe I'll be stronger and moving faster on the field when I wear it."
When it comes to professional players, one might think things like this are nothing but motivation goes a long way in the NFL and Overshown appeared beyond excited when seeing his new jersey being put together.
In addition to boosting Overshown's morale, you just know the change is about to boost the Cowboys' jersey sales. You've got to recognize it: I don't remember another time when a jersey number change was as hyped as this one has been.
A couple of years ago, when the NFL news cycle was flooded with players that were making the change, the Cowboys passed on the opportunity. Now, after Overshown was vocal about his wishes to use the number, they've turned it into a national story, with the linebacker hitting NFL Network last week and ESPN this week.
Jerry Jones might be as happy with the change as D-Mo is.
