Leon Draisaitl speaks out after embarrassing opening night performance

Leon Draisaitl is a player who is one of the best in the entire NHL and after signing a massive deal in the offseason, Edmonton Oilers fans are expecting a lot of production.

Unfortunately, Draisaitl and the Oilers were awful on Wednesday night as they took on the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets ended up winning the game by a score of 6-0 and the Oilers looked awful most of the night. It also didn't help that their goalie allowed a total of five goals on just 13 shots which is less than an ideal start.

In the play down below, you can see that Draisaitl struggled at times especially when it came to making offensive plays. He found himself getting burned a whole lot and would even end up on the ground in waves of embarrassment.

After the game, Draisaitl spoke about just how poorly the Oilers played. However, he did not that this team has the ability to bounce back. After all, they also lost last year's home opener in a blowout.

'Obviously not the start we want. We'll regroup & put a better effort in on Saturday.'

One has to wonder if goaltending will be an issue this season. It was last year until Skinner started playing extremely well. If he regresses, then the Oilers could be stuck in a pretty bad spot. Only time will tell whether or not things get any better.
