Las Vegas Raiders' 2024 plan is actually working better than you may think

The Las Vegas Raiders may not be doing this intentionally, but it's what needs to be done.

This is the worst team in the league. Okay, maybe not, we still really don't know who that is, but they are certainly up there, or down there, however you look at it. They have one of the worst offenses in the league and the defense, while it has had great moments, has not played up to the level that they were at last season.

They made some hires to their staff this offseason and made some signings that the fans and some media thought were big and were going to put this team in the right direction. Instead, they went backward. They are worse right now than they were at the end of last season.

Some fans and media thought this team had wildcard potential if all things went right -- not even close. So, the people that thought that are let down, but the question is, why? This is actually what the 2024 plan should have been, and how do we know it's not?

Now, no coach in the NFL, or college or any level, will ever lose on purpose, so let me preface everything by saying that the coaches and the players are not losing on purpose. They are not tanking. But, the front office could be.

The front office could easily have had their sights set on the 2025 season and what they could do with their new quarterback. They may have known this season was going to be a bad one based on the roster and coaching staff, so, why not continue to put together a team that is so their chances at landing a top-tier QB through the draft are greatly improved?

All I'm saying is, the 2024 plan may be going better than you think. They are 2-6 on the year, currently standing at the No. 7 overall pick if the draft were to start today. In my most recent mock draft, I have the six teams ahead of them not taking a quarterback.

That doesn't mean that won't happen, but the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, Jacksonville Jaguars, New York Jets, and New Orleans Saints could very well not take a quarterback. The Tennessee Titans could, though.

The way the Raiders' schedule is set to play out, there is a legitimate chance they could finish with maybe two more wins.

They play the Cincinnati Bengals, Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Atlanta Falcons, Los Angeles Chargers, and New Orleans Saints still, all of which could beat the Raiders.

They are looking primed to pick a QB.
