Paul Finebaum calls it the “awkward TV in America,” but there is something uniquely refreshing when the SEC Network analyst hosts Lane Kiffin on his show.

On Tuesday, while at the SEC Spring Meetings in Destin, the Ole Miss coach stopped by the set of “The Paul Finebaum Show,” and, well, it was all fun and games with a couple of mild ribbing thrown in to add to the frivolity.
“We don’t have a lot of time because you were late,” Finebaum said.
Kiffin revealed he missed a press conference with gathered media to join Finebaum, then said he was defending Georgia coach Kirby Smart.
“I’m sticking up for Kirby,” he told Finebaum. “I just saw him, and he said you were mean to him today.”
Finebaum clarified that he wasn’t mean to the Georgia coach.
“I was ripping on his quarterback,” he added of Gunner Stockton.
“I’m telling you, he seemed in a bad mood,” Kiffin said. You used to piss off Nick Saban. Now, you piss off coach Smart."
That was just the start.
Kiffin joked that no one watches Finebaum’s show anymore.
Finebaum countered with always pushing the former Alabama offensive coordinator for new gigs.
“I pushed you for Auburn last year,” Finebaum said.
“I feel like when you push me for a job, we lose the next week,” Kiffin replied. “It’s like you’re screwing us up. Get our fans mad.”
Finebaum asked if Kiffin’s fans don’t like him.
“What fans do like you?” Kiffin said?
Finebaum conceded Alabama fans do, “but they may not last much longer.”
He added it was a Saban thing.
“I got in early on the Saban train,” he admitted. “I’m not sure I have a seat on the next train.”
And so, it went on for almost 5 minutes. It’s what makes SEC Spring Meetings different, perhaps even better.

Like Kiffin said, they are at the beach. What do you want them to talk about? The third-string safety?
