Lala Kent Explains What Really Happened With Her Assistant Jessica Walter

Lala Kent addressed questions about the sudden departure of her assistant and podcast co-host, Jessica Walter.

The “Vanderpump Rules” veteran spoke out on the December 31 episode of the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast to question why so many people were up in arms over Walter’s exit from “Give Them Lala.”

When asked if it was Walter’s choice to leave, Kent replied “yes.” She also explained why she didn’t feel it necessary for Walter to make a big announcement about her decision to move on.

“At the end of the day, she was employed by Lala Kent,” the Bravo star explained. “You’re no longer employed. I wish you the best. Have a great life.”

Kent was also asked if she regretted bringing Walter so close into her inner circle.

“I’ve learned a lot in my many relationships in my life, from my ex-fiancé to certain friends that I’ve had to employees that I’ve had,” the mom of two replied. “Every single thing that I’ve experienced in the past two to three years I’ve learned something from, I don’t regret anything, but I know how to make things different.”

Lala Kent Surprised Fans With News of Her Assistant’s Sudden Departure

Fans saw Kent and Walter’s working relationship develop from the very beginning. Walter’s job interview for the assistant job was shown on the 9^th season of ‘Vanderpump Rules.” She quickly became part of Kent’s “pod,” as well as her podcast co-host. The two were so close that Walter was in the delivery room when Kent gave birth to her second baby, Sosa, in September 2024.

But in November, Kent announced that Walter’s three years of employment with her had ended. While sharing her “ache and relief of the week,” Kent said on the November 6 episode of “Give Them Lala,” “My ache is that my ride or die, Jessica, is no longer going to be working for me, and she is no longer going to be on the podcast. My relief is that she’s going to spread her wings.”

“I love her more than anything, and I’m so excited to see what she’s going to do in her future,” Kent added.

Walter did not immediately address the situation, but that same day she shared an Instagram photo of herself with the caption, “One foot in front of the other, y’all.”

Fans wanted an explanation. On social media, one commenter wrote, “Kind of weird to be in the room with someone when they deliver their baby and then the next month you up and quit 🤨🤨.”

“Yes!! And no send off?! What happened?” another wanted to know.

Jessica Walter Addressed Fans Directly

More than a week after Kent dropped the news, Walter broke her silence in an Instagram story. She thanked fans for reaching out to her and said the support helped to “make things less heavy.”

“Of course I would have said goodbye to you guys if I were given the opportunity,” Walter said. “Of course. I would want to say how much I love and appreciate just connecting with all of you. So, I’ll say that now. Right now, on behalf of my position on the ‘Give Them Lala’ podcast, goodbye. And I love every single one of you. I hope we stay connected. That is all I will say for now.”

As of this writing, Walter has not responded to Kent’s latest comments about their abrupt parting of ways.
