Kyle Pitts Will Request a Trade from the Atlanta Falcons

With the Atlanta Falcons benching Kirk Cousins, it caused some players to be vocal about the move, or the Atlanta media to ask questions surrounding the move. One of those players ended up being Kyle Pitts, and based on this plus a series of other events, it seems as though it’s only a matter of time until Pitts asks for a trade.

When being asked about the benching, Pitts’ response was “I just work here, so I’m not really tuned into their decisions. Just going out and trying to get wins”. It’s clear that Pitts is checked out, and rightfully so.

Through two coaches in his NFL career so far, neither have been able to utilize him correctly. Coming out of Florida, Pitts was being talked about as the next generational tight end, with 1,492 yards and 18 touchdowns over three seasons. His receiving ability was supposed to be unmatched, and yet Arthur Smith used him more as a blocker and Raheem Morris has failed to get him fully involved in the offense.

This season Pitts has 536 yards and three touchdowns over 40 receptions. He has still produced, but it’s not up to his full potential. As the Falcons enter an unknown territory with now starting Michael Penix they could start looking to retool. For Pitts being 24, and the typical peak for tight ends being between 25-27 before they decline, Pitts will want a trade off the Falcons and to a team he can contend with and be utilized to his full potential.
