The NFL just dropped its list of key dates for the 2025 season, and there’s a lot for Jets fans to keep track of. From Jets training camp to the trade deadline and everything in between, here’s a full rundown of what’s coming and when.
2025 NFL Important Dates
June

June 1: Deadline for prior club to send “June 1 Tender” to its unsigned unrestricted free agents. If the player has not signed with another club by July 22, he may negotiate only with his prior club until the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season.

June 15: Deadline for clubs to withdraw qualifying offers to restricted free agents and still retain exclusive negotiating rights by substituting a “June 15 Tender” (one-year contract at 110 percent of the player’s prior year salary).
July

July 15: At 4:00 p.m. ET, deadline for any club that designated a Franchise Player to sign the player to a multi-year contract or extension. After this date, the player may only sign a one-year contract with his prior club and cannot be extended until after the season.

Mid-July: Clubs are permitted to open training camp for rookies beginning seven days prior to the club’s earliest permissible mandatory reporting date for veterans.

July 22 (or first scheduled day of training camp, whichever is later): Signing period ends for unrestricted free agents who received the “UFA Tender” from their prior club. After this date, players may only sign with their prior team until Week 10.

Late July: Clubs may require veteran players to report to training camp no earlier than 47 days prior to the club’s first regular season game.
August

August 3-4: Hall of Fame Game and Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony (Canton, Ohio).

August 6: Deadline for players under contract to report to their clubs to earn an accrued season for free agency.

August 27: Prior to 4:00 p.m. ET, clubs must reduce rosters to a maximum of 53 players on the Active/Inactive List.
September

September 1: After 12:00 p.m. ET, clubs may establish a practice squad of up to 16 players.

September 4: Kickoff of the 2025 NFL regular season.
October

October 29: Trade deadline at 4:00 p.m. ET.

November 12: Players on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list must be activated by 4:00 p.m. ET to remain eligible for the remainder of the season.

December 11: Waiver system for veteran players begins.
