In one of the largest bets ever made on an NFL regular-season game, a bettor in Kentucky has bet $3.1 million on the Philadelphia Eagles to win, straight up, against the Carolina Panthers, per NFL insider Adam Schefter.
The bet placed at Circa Sports has the Eagles at -700 odds, which would win approximately $442,800. Due to the large bet, Circa had to adjust their lines. They are now offering an Eagles moneyline at -807 and are paying +650 for a Carolina Panthers win.
I told my guys in the risk room to go to work and get some buyback on the Panthers," Circa Sports owner Derek Stevens said of the bet Friday. "With us being in five states now, we should have the liquidity to get enough buyback to where we end up needing the Eagles."
The Eagles (10-2) are on an eight-game winning streak, beating the Baltimore Ravens on the road last week 24-19. Philadelphia hasn't lost since Week 4, a 33-16 road road game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Many NFL fans are now rooting for the Panthers.
"Honestly this makes me hope they lose now."
Bryce Young has looked pretty good lately.
"If the Panthers defense holds up they might win. Young almost beat Mahomes."
Scrappy is a great word to describe how Carolina has fared since Young is back in the starting lineup.
"He must not have been watching the last few weeks. Carolina probably gonna lose but they’ve been super scrappy."
Carolina (3-9) has dropped two straight after a brief reprieve saw them win back-to-back games against the New Orleans Saints and New York Giants in Weeks 9 and 10.
