Another accolade for the NFL’s best
Two weeks from today, the Minnesota Vikings will start seeing players report to Eagan for Training Camp. Before they get there, however, the team’s best player has received yet another honor for just how good he is.
Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports put together his list of the 25 best players in the NFL age 25 and younger, and Vikings star Justin Jefferson was at the top of the heap. Because this list is “25 and younger” as opposed to an “under 25” list, Jefferson is eligible to be on it.
“Jets” missed literally 40% of the 2023 season and still topped 1,000 yards receiving for the fourth time in four years. He remains one of, if not the toughest wideout to guard in all of football, and his effortless explosion turns routine plays into potential home runs. The undeniable face of the Vikings after less than a half-decade of NFL play, Jefferson is already on a Hall of Fame trajectory.
Offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw is also on the list, checking in at #23.
One of the most underdiscussed big men in the NFL, the former first-rounder has missed multiple games due to injury each year. When healthy, however, he’s been a top-graded pass blocker, helping pave the way for top-tier Kirk Cousins performances under Kevin O’Connell from 2022-2023.
In addition to those two players, another player from the purple got an honorable mention. That would be Jefferson’s running mate, wide receiver Jordan Addison, who is currently just 22 years old and will, hopefully, be on the main parts of these lists here starting next season.
Along with Addison, with any luck we’ll also be seeing J.J. McCarthy and Dallas Turner (as well as a few others) on these lists in the near future here as well. The Vikings will need some of their younger players to step up here going forward if they want to get back to where they deserve to be atop the NFC North.
