Jets Predicted to ‘Build The Trenches' Under New Regime

The New York Jets have already begun their offseason of transformation under new head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey with the moves to cut ties with Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.

We aren't sure if the roster trimming will stop there with Allen Lazard still employed, but it is a good first step for Glenn, who clearly wants to cut the fat from the roster and build the Jets in his image.

There are a host of ways to rebuild a roster, and some involve getting the big names and offensive or defensive weapons. However, the Philadelphia Eagles have also built through the trenches on both sides of the ball.

And in CBS Sports' latest mock draft, it is yet another outlet that has the Jets grabbing LSU stud Will Campbell with the No. 7 pick.

"Will Campbell arrives in New York with an opportunity to play left tackle, but there is a path to move inside long term if that does not work out," CBS Sports writes. "It would not be a surprise if Aaron Glenn has a desire to build the trenches before making other luxurious additions to the roster."

This is quickly becoming "the" pick for the Jets, and we have seen other mocks that have Tyler Warren being selected or a receiver like Tetairoa McMillan to give New York some offensive juice, but Campbell seems like a good fit.

Will's versatility is what could be most appealing as he is equally adept at playing right tackle, left tackle and as CBS Sports states, even playing inside at guard.

The move won't be met with much adulation, as offensive linemen rarely are, but with Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith, who are free Agents, there are tackle openings for the Jets.

Olu Fashanu could take the left and Campbell the right, and boom, New York has its two bookends for the next decade.
