The Vancouver Canucks took a huge step back in 2024/25, and after being genuine Stanley Cup contenders the year before, they now head into the summer of 2025 with plenty of questions to answer.
The biggest question that needs to be answered is the future of Head Coach Rick Tocchet, who many have speculated could leave the team for greener pastures, although negotiations between the two sides have been ongoing since their season ended.
Now, Elliotte Friedman has revealed not only when we will know more, but who the two front runners are to land the talented Head Coach over the summer.

According to Friedman, there hasn't been a decision made yet, but we should know very soon, and on top of that, he revealed that if Tocchet remains interested in being a Head Coach, it will come down to remaining in Vancouver or heading to the Philadelphia Flyers.
Despite a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, many in Vancouver are hoping that Tocchet will return, and without the drama of J.T. Miller and Elias Pettersson, optimism is high that with a good summer and Tocchet returning, this team could bounce back in a big way.
Ultimately, it's more likely than not that Tocchet will be behind a bench somewhere in the NHL in 2025/26, and whether it's Vancouver, Philadelphia or elsewhere, he'll no doubt have plenty more success moving forward.
