Jayden Daniels explains why he dislikes being compared to Lamar Jackson

The start of Jayden Daniels’ NFL career has been so dynamic, he is already drawing comparisons to some of the best quarterbacks in the league. Daniels himself is handling those comparisons precisely as the Washington Commanders would want him to.

Daniels was asked directly on Wednesday about those comparisons, and he was very dismissive of them. Daniels said he dislikes being compared to Jackson, and said he wants to be his own player.

“I don’t like when people try to compare me to Lamar. We’re two different players,” Daniels said. “Appreciate everybody for who they are.

“At the end of the day I want to be known as Jayden Daniels and not the next such and such.”

There are not a lot of great ways to respond to such comparisons, but this is the best way Daniels can do it. That said, there is no doubt he has put himself in some elite statistical company to start his career.

The No. 2 pick in April’s draft, Daniels has thrown for 1,135 yards and rushed for 300 more through five games, with eight total touchdowns.
