It sure looks like the Dallas Cowboys are ruling out picking an important position in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft

Days away from the 2025 NFL Draft, it's clear the Dallas Cowboys roster still has more holes than the front office would like it to.
The team badly needs wide receiver and running back help. Having a nose tackle compete with Mazi Smith would be ideal. And with injuries to cornerback Trevon Diggs and linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, depth is needed on defense as well.

It sure looks like the Dallas Cowboys are ruling out picking an important position in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft

Offensive line, however, has become a mysterious position for the Cowboys. The team has made its bets on some players over the past few years, from using a first round pick on left tackle Tyler Guyton to signing Terence Steele to a long-term extension in 2023.

However, there are question marks about the two tackles and though Brock Hoffman looked very decent at right guard filling in for Zack Martin, it remains to be seen if the team will seek an upgrade.

What is becoming clear following the latest addition to the team is the Cowboys are unlikely to pick an offensive lineman in the first round next week. That's because it's the one position in which they've signed three players this free agency. Sure, they've added plenty of defensive linemen as well but they have more specific roles defined for them whereas the linemen they've added have some position flex.

The latest signing is Hakeem Adeniji, formerly a Cincinnati Bengal. Adeniji joins a group of new Cowboys OL also featuring veteran Rob Jones and the 25-year-old Saahdiq Charles, who unexpectedly retired in 2024 for personal reasons but that is now back on the field.

Adeniji has played guard and tackle in his 15 NFL career starts and will provide versatility in the trenches though he's a longshot to crack the starting lineup. However, adding three players that essentially will play the same position is undeniably significant.

This approach from the front office screams they're going in a different direction than O-line early in the NFL Draft and fans shouldn't be surprised if they don't pick one until Day 3 given their needs elsewhere.
