Status Of Key Edmonton Oilers Forward Up In The Air For Game 1 Of The Stanley Cup Playoffs

Trent Frederic hasn't been healthy since arriving in Edmonton, and now, it appears his status is up in the air for game one against the Los Angeles Kings as he continues to battle through the injuries that have plagued him.

The Edmonton Oilers didn't make many moves at the 2025 trade deadline, but one move that they did make that had fans excited was acquiring young Boston Bruins forwards Max Jones and Trent Frederic.

The latter was expected to be an impact player for Edmonton given his ability to play physical and impact the game at both ends of the ice, but thus far, he's managed to play in just one game with the team thus far due to injury.

Now, the latest update on his situation isn't a good one for the team, as he's not only not expected to return for the regular season, but his status for Game One against the Los Angeles Kings (their expected matchup if nothing changes) is now officially up in the air.

This would be a major blow for Edmonton, as they saw Frederic as a genuine upgrade in their middle-six, but with the team struggling through injuries as of late, we've simply not been able to see Frederic or the entire team at their best down the stretch.

Head Coach Kris Knoblauch did say that Frederic should be good to go in the middle part of the series if things go well for the young forward, but given how healthy the Kings have been and how well they've built momentum down the stretch, it's safe to say that this matchup is going to be much tougher on the Oilers than we've seen against LA in recent years.
