I was excited when I initially heard about the Bachelor In Paradise season 10 twist, but I've changed my mind. Though it initially sounded like a good idea, I have come to believe the opposite. Bachelor in Paradise is my favorite iteration of the unscripted dating franchise, so stakes are absurdly high for me. I was thrilled when it was announced the show would be back this summer. He also named a few of the first contestants and shocked audiences with a wild new twist that includes contestants from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette.
Bachelor in Paradise is one of the best things on television. While The Bachelor and The Bachelorette focus on the romantic search of one person, Bachelor in Paradise is a fun ensemble show. This season promises to be the wildest yet, with a new twist changing everything. I'm counting down the days until Bachelor in Paradise season 10, but I'm concerned the new twist could hurt the show. It sounded like a great idea at first, but upon further reflection, it could spell doom for my beloved reality show.

During The Bachelor season 29 finale, host Jesse Palmer announced Bachelor in Paradise season 10 would include a major twist. In addition to casting former contestants from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, this season will also include contestants from The Golden Bachelor and The Golden Bachelorette. Though I loved the idea initially, I've changed my mind and have come to believe that Golden Bachelor In Paradise should be its own show.
The Twist Is Sure To Disappoint
No One Will Be Happy With How Time Is Split Between The Two Beaches

When the big Bachelor in Paradise twist was announced, Jesse didn't expand on how it works. It was revealed there would be two side-by-side storylines on two separate beaches, with two separate rose ceremonies. I think this is a recipe for disaster. No matter how screen time is divided, some people will complain. Some people will want to see more of the "Golden beach" love stories, while some may want to watch the young singles. Either way, someone is sure to be unhappy.

The First Six Cast Members Have Been Named

In addition to announcing the big twist, Jesse named the show's first three contestants. Among the younger cohort, the first Bachelor In Paradise season 10 contestant will be The Bachelor's Zoe McGrady, 27, who appeared in season 29. She was one of Grant Ellis' final three, but will get another chance at love this summer. Jesse also announced the first two Golden contestants: Gary Levingston, 65, and Leslie Fhima, 65. Leslie was Gerry Turner's runner-up on The Golden Bachelor, while Gary was one of the single men who dated Joan Vassos on The Golden Bachelorette.

Since then, several more contestants have joined the cast of Bachelor in Paradise season 10. Jonathan Johnson and Hakeem Moulton weren't able to win Jenn Tran's heart on The Bachelorette season 21, but they'll both be on the beach this summer. The most recent addition to the cast was Kat Izzo, 28, from The Bachelor season 27. Kat also appeared in Bachelor in Paradise season 9. She got engaged to John Henry, but the relationship didn't last. This summer, she'll get another chance to find love on the beach.
