I'm Convinced Joan Vassos & Chock Chapple Are A Showmance (What Their Shocking Relationship Milestone Indicates)

The Golden Bachelorette star Joan Vassos and her new fiancé Chock Chapple may have found love and gotten engaged on the show, but I’m convinced the pair are in a showmance despite showing off a shocking relationship milestone. Joan, who originally appeared on The Golden Bachelor season 1 in the hopes of winning Gerry Turner’s heart, was open about the fact that she was looking for love after a major loss. Joan’s first husband, John Vassos, passed tragically in 2021 and though Joan felt ready to move forward, she wasn’t sure what that would look like on The Golden Bachelor.

While Joan had to leave The Golden Bachelor early, she was quickly considered a contender when it became time to talk more about the lead of The Golden Bachelorette. Joan, who quickly became a favorite among Bachelor Nation viewers during her time on the show, may not have had the most experience with the show, but she was a charismatic lead. Unfortunately, throughout Joan’s time on the show, her relationship with Chock was difficult for viewers to get behind. While he cared for Joan, Chock felt like an insecure clout chaser on screen and continued behaving strangely in the post-season.

Although Joan and Chock had to get comfortable being on screen throughout their time on The Golden Bachelorette, the couple have proven that they love the limelight since their appearance on the show ended. After the season, Joan and Chock were expected to retreat into their privacy a bit, getting to know one another without the added pressure of cameras or social media. Although they have scaled back how much they’ve been present for Bachelor Nation, the couple has been consistently showing their followers what’s happening in their lives. Posting on social media consistently, they’ve been less private than expected.

Joan and Chock have been sharing a ton about what they’ve been doing in their day-to-day lives online, whether they’re making an ordinary trip to the hardware store or appearing on a red carpet. Updating their followers on what’s going on, the couple has proven that they enjoy sharing the spotlight as they move through this new chapter. Though many expected them to take some time for themselves, the pair haven’t cared to keep their private lives private, so much so that they’ve been accused of trying to deceive Bachelor Nation into believing their relationship is stronger than it is.

Joan Went To Chock's Kansas Home For The First Time

The Couple Finally Visited Chock’s Home State

Although Chock has consistently been around Joan’s home in Maryland throughout their time together post-show, she hadn’t been to his home in Kansas before the new year. Joan opened up about her prep to head to Chock’s home state for the first time since their hometown date on The Golden Bachelorette, revealing that though Chock had spent a ton of time with her in Maryland, she hadn’t been to visit him yet. The pair had shared earlier in their relationship that they planned to go back and forth between their homes until they found a place of their own together.

Although Joan was excited to be visiting Chock in Maryland, it was clear that the couple weren’t sure about their next steps after the trip. Though they’ve been open about long-distance being their mode of relationship right now, they’ve been sharing how difficult it’s been for them to keep up their relationship while they’re apart. The pair have been planning to move to New York City together since their time on The Golden Bachelorette came to an end, but after bouncing back and forth between their home states, the distance may become more of an issue than they’re letting on.

Joan & Chock Are Trying To Stay Relevant

They’ve Been Oversaturating Bachelor Nation With Content

As they’ve shared more about their lives post-show, it’s become abundantly clear to Bachelor Nation that Joan and Chock are doing everything they can to stay relevant after their season. While Joan has been relevant as the first-ever Golden Bachelorette, her season coming to an end proved that she was moving into a new phase of her life with Chock. Rather than still being the franchise’s single Golden girl, Joan became a fiancée who was in a public relationship. The way her content shifted was obvious, as her social posts quickly became about her and Chock rather than her alone.

Despite the fact that Joan had to account for her new relationship in her content post-show, she’s still been sharing more than ever when it comes to her life, whether she features Chock or not. The oversaturation of Joan and Chock on social media has been difficult for viewers to wrap their minds around, as they’ve been working hard to adjust to Joan having picked someone they didn’t necessarily agree with. While I’ve enjoyed seeing Joan and Chock’s relationship updates, it’s been a lot of information about the couple that I didn’t expect to see online after The Golden Bachelorette.

Will Joan & Chock Actually Get Married?

The Couple May Not Go Through With Their Showmance

Although I believe that Joan and Chock have good intentions with their relationship updates, I’m not sure that their relationship will be able to stand the test of time. Joan has been doing a lot to keep her relationship relevant and on the minds of Bachelor Nation, which doesn’t feel like a great sign for the longevity of her connection with Chock. Despite the fact that Joan’s finally getting to know Chock’s home state, she’s been struggling to prioritize her time with her fiancé and figure out what their next steps are after finding a place they can stay permanently.

Joan and Chock’s consistent churn of content has been tough for Bachelor Nation to watch, as they’ve shared so much more of their relationship than expected. While I’ve enjoyed seeing their updates, it also reads to me like they’re trying to stay relevant, which could be a bad sign for their future. I’m concerned that the couple won’t actually move past being a showmance, and instead The Golden Bachelorette couple will stay stuck where they are. While I’d love to see them become a romance, I’m having a hard time watching them try to legitimize their relationship on social media.
