The spring NFL owners meetings in Palm Beach, Florida, are under way, and we have our first/latest Aaron Rodgers nugget.
"We had a really productive day," Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said of Rodgers' visit with the team on March 21. "He's been in this thing a long time. I've been in this thing a long time. But there's no substitute for intimacy and spending time together and getting to know one another in a non-competitive environment, so that was really good. But I don't have any new updates in terms of where the process is. We'll see where it leads us."
Rodgers also reportedly had a throwing session with new star Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf over the weekend.
Everyone is waiting to see if Rodgers ends up in Pittsburgh, which is really the last sensible spot for Rodgers if he wants to start for a playoff contender. The Minnesota Vikings could still be an option if they don't sign another veteran quarterback to either challenge J.J. McCarthy for the starting spot or mentor him as a backup, but that might not be a waiting game either Rodgers or the Vikings want to play out fully.
Yahoo Sports' Charles Robinson reported that compensatory draft picks could be in play in why the Vikings haven't added a veteran backup to their lineup yet. Per Robinson:
That deadline traditionally comes in May. Maybe that player will be Rodgers, once he doesn’t count against a future comp pick for the franchise. Maybe it will be one of several veterans who are still on the market and can provide the ability to support McCarthy and start some games in a pinch.
So we continue to wait for Rodgers to make a decision. He and wide receiver Amari Cooper are the last available names on Yahoo Sports Senior NFL Writer Frank Schwab's top 25 free agents list.

Detroit Lions general manager Brad Holmes indicated that the team was going to pick up the fifth-year option for star wideout Jameson Williams. As for the longer term, well, that's where things aren't as concrete, particularly with a pricey WR market.
"Look, his fifth-year option, it's looking likely that we'll go ahead and just pick that up," Holmes told the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett. "But in terms of extension, again, there's a lot of extensions that are hopefully coming, but it's just one that you just don't know what's going to happen from a financial standpoint cause a wide receiver, it's expensive. It's very expensive.
"So, look, these are good problems."

The Tennessee Titans announced Wednesday that they have signed quarterback Tim Boyle.
Boyle, who spent the past year with the New York Giants, will now join Will Levis in the Titans' quarterback room. The veteran backup will now join his eighth NFL team since entering the league in 2018.
The move for Boyle comes as Tennessee prepares for an NFL Draft where it will (almost certainly) draft Cam Ward at No. 1 overall.

Wilson played with the Steelers on a one-year, $1.21 million contract in 2024 while still owed $37.79 million from the Denver Broncos. He said after the season that he wants to play “as long as possible,” reiterating a statement he made in November that he wants to play 5-7 more years.

J.J. McCarthy is the presumed starting quarterback for the 2025 Minnesota Vikings, but the specter of Aaron Rodgers remains out there with the veteran signal-caller still unsigned. The Vikings have touched base with Rodgers' camp, but head coach Kevin O'Connell has yet to announce who will take the first snap in Week 1.
McCarthy, the Vikings' 2024 first-round draft pick who missed all of last season due to a knee injury, appeared on the "Up and Adams" show Tuesday and was asked by host Kay Adams if he's been informed that he is the team's No. 1 quarterback heading into next season.
NFL teams have reportedly contacted Minnesota about McCarthy's availability

Most of NFL free agency is, practically speaking, done. It has been done for more than a week.
There are some veteran receivers still deciding on their next team and a few other veterans who can contribute, but there's not much left among the top free agents. Teams executed their plans, players signed and most of the league is on to draft preparation.
And then there's Aaron Rodgers.
Rodgers is taking his time making a decision. That gets more curious or obnoxious, depending on your perspective, because he doesn't have many options left.
But there are still teams and players that need to hear what Rodgers' decision is before mapping out their next moves. And there hasn't been much indication of what Rodgers will do. Like it or not though, it's not like a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers has a lot of choice but to wait.

The sides will keep talking.
