Despite his pleas and tactics, Jimmy Butler remains a member of the Miami Heat, at least for now.
But new reporting suggests that could be changing soon.
According to Brian Windhorst, via Evan Sidery, Butler met with Heat owner Micky Arison last week and “made it clear in his meeting with Arison he wants traded from Miami, and preferably to the Suns by February 6th.”
Following that meeting, “the Heat have ramped up their efforts to trade him.”
Will he be moving to the Suns, or will another team acquire him and when could this happen?
Butler could be leaving Miami any day now.
The moment the Heat receives an offer that checks all their boxes, they will take it.
Butler told Arison where he wants to go but that doesn’t mean he will get his wish and there is a good chance he is traded to a franchise he has no interest in.
This debacle has been tiring and frustrating for the Heat and they will only commit to a trade they really like, disregarding what Butler wants.
For a moment, it seemed like the team might sit on Butler and his contract and there were reports that said Pat Riley felt no urgency to move him.
But it seems that their view may be changing, and now the Heat are working hard to get a trade done.
Butler wants the Suns and the Suns want him but they need to create a package that works well for the Heat, which is easier said than done.
The clock is ticking down for all parties involved, and the trade deadline is getting closer.
