Court documents allege that The Golden Bachelorette contestant Gil Ramirez's ex-girlfriend filed a temporary restraining order against him three months ago.

People has obtained documents that allege that Gil's ex-girlfriend filed a temporary restraining order against him three months ago. According to a court filing dated June 11, a woman who claimed to have dated Gil was granted a temporary restraining order which cited, "harassment - emotional."

Although Gil's ex-girlfriend requested a domestic violence restraining order, she clarified that she hadn't been physically injured by him. She claimed, "Despite telling him to not contact me, come to my house — he made repeated unwanted contact with me, family members and friends. 25 attempts daily via phone, texts, video. Although lives an hour away — showed up at places I frequent to confront me on a daily basis." She added that this had been going on for a "two week period thus far."

Gil's ex-girlfriend requested that he not contact her and that he stay away from her home, workplace, vehicle, and children's school. A judge granted the temporary restraining order that day. A hearing was set for July 2, but it was postponed because the order was unable to be served to Gil.

Court documentation showed that the hearing was then supposed to take place on July 24, and the temporary restraining order was continued. At the next hearing date, the court minutes revealed that "the case is dismissed without prejudice for lack of prosecution for lack of service." In addition, the temporary restraining order was dropped.

According to People, a source close to The Golden Bachelorette stated, "this filing occurred in the brief period between completion of our thorough background investigation and exhaustive vetting process, and the beginning of production." In light of this new information, The Golden Bachelorette producers have "further edited [Gil's] already limited screen time and minimized him in promotional assets moving forward."

While it's good to hear that Gil's Golden Bachelorette screen time will be limited, it's shocking that the show didn't know about the restraining order, even if it came after his background check. The Bachelorette season 21 producers also missed that there was allegedly a restraining order against Devin Strader, who eventually won Jenn Tran's season. Although Devin's document was sealed, Reality Steve was able to easily uncover plenty of information that revealed that there was a restraining order against Devin.

These new developments have greatly diminished whatever little faith fans had left in the Bachelor franchise. The fact that the producers have cast two men in two consecutive seasons who had restraining orders against them is concerning. Potential leads will likely think twice about taking on the role knowing that potentially dangerous contestants are making their way into the casts.

Our Take On Gil Ramirez's Restraining Order

The Bachelor Franchise Must Do Better

There's no excuse for the Bachelor franchise to cast men such as Gil and Devin. They must work harder to find out this information. If the media can so easily access it, then the producers should do so as well. Every season when the casts are announced, negative information leaks about some of the contestants. However, these two instances are much more serious than anything we've seen before.

It's a shame that, just days after Joan's Golden Bachelorette season had such a hopeful premiere, this new damaging information has come to light about the show. The Bachelor franchise producers are going to have to do much better if they hope to continue their shows in the future. Hopefully, Joan's journey won't be too marred by this, and her season will have a happy ending.
