Giants Receive Head-Turning Criticism from Stephen A. Smith

GM Joe Schoen's offseason plan comes to life

The New York Giants have fallen apart over the last couple of years. Back in 2022, the Giants ended the season with a 9-7 record, beat the Minnesota Vikings in the wild card round of the playoffs, and appeared to be on their way back to being a contender.

Due to poor decision-making and some unfortunate luck, New York is far from being a contender heading into the 2025 season.

In 2024, the Giants mustered up a 3-14 record. That left them with the No. 3 overall pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL draft.

Looking back even further, since New York won the Super Bowl in 2011 over the New England Patriots, the franchise has only made it to the playoffs twice. That shows a major flaw from the highest level of the team.

Now, Stephen A. Smith has had enough of holding his tongue and issue some heart-turning comments criticizing the Giants.

During a segment on "First Take," Smith did not hold back his opinions on what has been happening in New York.

"To allow this disintegration to take place with [the New York Giants] brand ... is criminal," he said.

Smith had a lot more to say in the full clip.

This offseason, the Giants are trying to get more competitive. They are reportedly one of the top destinations waiting for Aaron Rodgers' decision.

Adam Schefter weighed in on New York's current situation at quarterback.

"They're waiting on Aaron Rodgers. They're interested in Russell Wilson as well," he said.

New York has also gone out and signed some key free agent pieces, including Paulson Adebo, James Hudson III, and Jevon Holland, while re-signing key pieces as well like Darius Slayton.
