Giants Forced To Start Drew Lock After Lying About His Position On The Depth Chart

Quarterback Drew Lock will start under center for the New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day when his team takes on the rival Cowboys. Head coach Brian Daboll had no other option following an injury to previous QB1 Tommy DeVito.

It will represent Lock’s first start for his new squad after being picked up by the Giants this past offseason. Interestingly enough, he believed he’d make that debut last week against the Bucs.

Lock signed with New York with the understanding that he’d be QB2 behind Daniel Jones. Jones struggled over the first 10 games and was demoted. Lock was expected to be next man up. He was then told that Tommy DeVito jumped him on the depth chart!

Lock entered that game late, completing his only pass in the 30-7 loss. He was later asked about the coaching staff’s decision to keep him on the sidelines. He was as surprised as anyone.

“Again, that’s a question I might still have for myself. It was expressed to me that I was going to be the No. 2 [quarterback]. I don’t know, it’s an interesting situation.”

DeVito was unable to lead the Giants to a win last Sunday. He also suffered a right forearm injury that will keep him sidelined against the Cowboys on a short week. New York has no choice but to start Drew Lock!

Most believe this gives the offense the best chance to succeed. Lock has been an NFL quarterback for five seasons. He’s started 23 games across stints with Denver and Seattle.
