The New York Giants are considered a frontrunner to land Aaron Rodgers now that his path to Los Angeles is blocked, but the Giants could also be looking into another quarterback expected to garner a $100 million contract.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that after the Los Angeles Rams opted to bring back Super Bowl winning quarterback Matthew Stafford rather than trade him, the Giants shifted to look at other veteran quarterbacks -- including Rodgers.
The New York Jets announced that they would be moving on from Rodgers after two seasons, including a first one that was wiped out by a torn Achilles. With Rodgers expressing a desire to play again in 2025, he is expected to get some major interest on the open market with the Giants being named as a top suitor.
But the Giants are also spreading out their interest, with SNY reporter Connor Hughes noting they are also looking into free agent Sam Darnold.
"Yes, the #Giants have discussed Aaron Rodgers. They've also expressed interest in Sam Darnold, I'm told," Hughes wrote in a post on X.

Darnold would not come cheap. Coming off a breakout season as he led the Minnesota Vikings to a 14-3 record, Darnold is expected to garner a nine-figure contract. ESPN's Dan Graziano predicted he would earn a three-year, $120 million contract with $75 million in guaranteed money.
The Giants could also face a challenge in convincing a top quarterback to sign onto a team that does not appear close to contention.
