Giants defense dealt huge blows before clash with Pittsburgh Steelers

The New York Giants will be without multiple cornerbacks against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Starting cornerbacks Adoree' Jackson and Cor’Dale Flott will be sidelined with injuries. Meanwhile, top backup Tre Hawkins, who is questionable with an ankle injury, is not expected to play. That will leave the Giants extremely shorthanded at a key position.

NFL Week 2: New York Giants at Washington Commanders

Tae Banks, Dru Phillips, and Nick McCloud will be the Giants' cornerbacks. They will elevate cornerback Greg Stroman from the practice squad to give them more depth so they can run their sub-packages.

Banks and Phillips have each played a significant amount of snaps early in the season. Phillips, in particular, has impressed with the Giants as a rookie. Banks was called out after the team’s loss to the Eagles about a lack of effort in his tackling, one of which led directly to an Eagles touchdown.

The Giants will have stars Dexter Lawrence and Brian Burns after both missed practice time this week, so they will have some of their superstars for this gam against the Steelers. However, this could be an appealing matchup for George Pickens to have a big game if the team can keep Russell Wilson upright.
