‘Geno Smith is playing OUT OF HIS MIND’ - Twitter reacts to Seahawks’ 42-29 loss to Lions

Geno’s career night marred by Seattle’s defensive performance.

Mike MacDonald’s Seattle Seahawks were in Motor City on Monday night for the rookie head coach’s first prime time game against the Detroit Lions. There was a whole lot of concern about the Seahawks defense heading into this game with Leonard Williams, Byron Murphy II, Boye Mafe, and Uchenna Nwosu all ruled out for this contest, particularly with the Lions dynamic backfield duo of David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs. Those concerns would quickly prove reasonable as the Seattle defense struggled mightily through the first half. As bad as the first half score looked though, the DK Metcalf fumble would ultimately prove to be the difference in this game so far. Apart from the costly turnover, Geno Smith and his offense came ready for a dogfight.

I’m gonna be real with you chief, this wasn’t the result we had in mind. This second half though, was by all accounts, an offensive masterpiece. Geno Smith and Ryan Grubb found something tonight, and the return of Kenneth Walker III was so worth the wait. Injuries aside, our defense tonight was questionable at best, but the thing I’ll be losing sleep over is that egregious offensive pass interference call against Tyler Lockett that negated the 4th down conversion by Geno and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Truth be told, the Lions played an excellent ball game and earned the win, but I’m salivating over the idea of meeting these guys in the playoffs, and I’m willing to bet Williams, Murphy, Mafe, and Nwosu share that sentiment.

Onto the next! The Seahawks will be hosting the New York Giants for their second of three games in 10 days. Kickoff is scheduled for Oct. 6th at 1:25 pm pacific, at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington.
