Recently, the Green Bay Packers have moved on from a number of stars. As a result of their multiple trades and free agent moves (both releasing players and signings), they now have one of the youngest teams in the league. The team narrowly missed appearing the NFC Championship game last year, and expectations have only increased.
It appears, however, that one former Packers star will never play for the team again.
One Former Green Bay Packers Star Will Never Return To Green Bay
According to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Josh Jacobs tried to recruit Davante Adams back to the Packers just a few months ago:
Josh Jacobs: “The receiving corps is crazy, man. I’m so excited just watching them. Any one of them can go at any moment.”
Also Jacobs on Davante Adams: “When I came out here … I sent him the little eyes emoji. I said, ‘You thinking about coming back?’ But man, he loved it.”
During today’s episode of Up and Adams, Adams himself said it won’t happen:
Raiders WR Davante Adams response to Josh Jacobs text about returning to the Packers…
“You go ahead and hold it down in (Green Bay)… I don’t think I’ll be coming back over there.”
In the past, we have heard reports that Aaron Rodgers lobbied Davante Adams to join the Jets.
In his first eight NFL seasons, Adams with under Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay. The playmaker and quarterback have always been rumored to reunite in New York, despite Adams still having two years left on his contract (the Raiders have the option to opt out of Adams’ contract for $15.7 million).
Those rumors seem to be circulating again. It will be interesting to see what happens with the two Super Stars over the next few seasons.
