Former NFL QB Rips Aaron Rodgers, Jets Offense After Robert Saleh Firing

The New York Jets surprised everyone when they fired head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday morning, and that included the team's superstar quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

Speculation has always swirled suggesting that Rodgers and Saleh's working relationship was not great, but the legendary passer claimed that he was stunned by the team's decision to move on from Saleh.

How Aaron Rodgers, Robert Saleh Explained Weird Interaction

There's a decent chance that Rodgers inadvertently played a role in Saleh's firing due to his and the Jets offense's early season struggles. When looking at the unit as a whole, former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky explained where things are going wrong for New York, and it doesn't have much to do with Saleh.

Orlovsky covers a lot of ground here, with the primary issues being the Jets inability to consistently block on the offensive line, Rodgers missing a bevy of throws, and receivers not doing enough to get themselves open for their quarterback.

Of course, Saleh oversees the Jets entire operation, so in some ways he's to blame for this, but in a lot of cases it appears as if the players New York has at their disposal simply aren't doing their jobs.

Whether or not that changes under Jeff Ulbrich's lead remains to be seen, but as Orlovsky points out, the Jets issues run deeper than Saleh, and it will be interesting to see whether his sudden firing has a positive or negative impact on the team moving forward.
