Former Dolphins Fan Favorite Released by Seahawks

A former Miami Dolphin is looking for a new team less than two months after signing with the Seattle Seahawks.

Wide receiver River Cracraft was released by the Seahawks in Monday’s rounds of roster moves in favor of younger or undrafted free agents. Cracraft originally signed with the Seahawks on March 21 to compete for a roster spot.

Less than two months after being in Seattle, near where he played college ball, Cracraft was released. He signed with Seattle after spending the last three years in Miami.

In his three seasons with the Dolphins from 2022 to 2024, Cracraft played 29 games, catching 25 receptions for 289 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, Cracraft caught seven receptions for 66 yards.

Cracraft’s most accomplished season in the league was in 2023 when he caught nine receptions for 121 yards and one touchdown.

Cracraft was never a player the Dolphins could rely on for much-needed drives or certain packages. He was, however, a locker room favorite.

The moment that Cracraft signed with the Seahawks back in March, wide receiver Jaylen Waddle took to Instagram to express his displeasure with the front office not re-signing him.

Cracraft now has the capability of signing with a new team and earning either a roster spot this upcoming season or acquiring a spot on the practice squad. He will be 31 years old in November, which means he won’t contribute much athletically.

He could be a veteran presence in the locker room for the wide receiver corps and young players in 2025, potentially with the Dolphins.
